TMJ Treatment in Norfolk

Do you hear clicking sounds in your jaw whenever you chew? If so, you may be suffering from Temporomandibular Joint Disorder - TMJ for short. Not only is it annoying, left untreated, it can be very painful. In simplest terms, TMJ symptoms can be described as chronic inflammation of the Temporomandibular joint. This joint connects the lower jaw to the skull. Dr. Arthur Jenkins in Norfolk has diagnosed and treated many such cases. If you suffer from any pain or discomfort in your jaw, your next call should be to General and Implant Dentistry.

But what causes TMJ disorder? Some contributing factors may include injuries to the jaw area, certain forms of arthritis, low-level infections and certain dental procedures. Untreated dental problems (crooked teeth, gum disease) can also lead to TMJ symptoms. At General and Implant Dentistry we're committed to listening to you and working with you to develop a plan to treat your jaw discomfort.

The treatment plan that's right for you may include restoration of certain teeth that may be contributing to the problem, attention to proper gum maintenance, pain relief, and a concerted effort to identify the underlying causes of your TMJ sumptoms. Many of our Norfolk patients have discovered that relief can be obtained from simple changes in their eating and sleeping habits, although more advanced cases may require surgery. Talk to Dr. Arthur Jenkins now to learn what's right for you. Left untreated, TMJ symptoms can lead to debilitating pain and discomfort.

So why are you still suffering from TMJ syndrome? Dr. Jenkins can diagnose your issue and get you started immediately on the proper plan. Call our Norfolk office at General and Implant Dentistry to schedule an appointment today. Or use our convenience online form and we'll contact you shortly.
